Spring Is Here! Tuesday New York City Adventures

Spring is finally here, and I realize now, it probably wont last so long as we head into a probable hot hot Summer. The weather is perfect, and so yesterday, Ben and I took a walk in the city (starting in the West Village), before dinner in the Lower East Side.  We accidentally overshot the LES, and ended up in Chinatown.

There's always lots happening in the city. I may not be the best street photographer, but there are still endless activity to document at any moment! More street pics to come in the future :)

Astoria in March

Our weekend visit to Astoria was inspired by some apartment rental link found on facebook.  There's lots of housing options in Astoria, yet I hadnt spent much time in this area of town (other than a one-time visit to Kickshaw for the best cheese sandwiches).

I spotted a Catholic church pretty quickly after coming out of the subway.  As we stepped into Immaculate Conception we crashed a wedding at the worst possible moment (right when the bride and groom were walking down the aisle) ... oops.

Astoria is probably best known for the delightful Greek restaurants, and lunch at Taverna Kyclades did not disappoint.  The seafood (branzino) was delicious as was the huge fresh block of feta.  Lots of bakeries also with delicious spinach and meat pies (Artopolis is a must visit) After lunch, we wandered all around the bustling multi-cultural town. Lots of hookah places, butcher shops selling cuts of meat and charcoal, and churches.

We left Astoria right at dusk to appreciate the beautiful the skyline is as viewed from the subway.

A Glimpse Into Spring From Winter | Brooklyn, NY

Spring's almost here. I felt it last weekend, which was the warmest the city has felt all year.  And so, I decided to spend the day in Brooklyn, wandering, eating, and walking aimlessly.  Williamsburg is so cute, with lots of restaurants I would love to eat at (even though clientele may not be my particular mix of friends).  I'm always drawn to the water, and naturally, wound up stumbling upon gorgeous views of the city. Notice in the last pic how smiley I am, especially because I am wearing my sailboat sweater. Love the water

Ash Wednesday Midtown Street Pics | St Patricks Cathedral

Every Ash Wednesday, I am consistently surprised by how many Catholics there are in the city. Just looking around, I saw an older man walk into an adult store with ashes on his forehead, a UPS delivery man strolling with a dolly also with ashes ... and many more adult and children observing the start of lent.

I went to St Patricks Cathedral, which is undergoing heavy renovation.  In the city that never sleeps it always seems to be opened as a place for prayer no matter the state.

I should take street pics more often for fun and for practice ... you never know who is looking at you (a lil girl) or taking your picture (another photographer)! See below ...

What is Love? Happy Valentine's Day!!

Last week was Valentine's Day. I love that date because it reminds people to dedicate a day to celebrating love.  Something sweet about seeing guys roam the streets carrying flowers could be a single rose or a multiple bouquets of flowers.

I am so fortunate to capture couples in love for work, but in reality I find love everyday and everywhere.  I see it in the leaves of plants, I see it in knitted hearts people place on fences.  There are couples all over the map and each expression of love is unique, special and wonderful.

And what is love? It is patient and kind, it persists and never fails, above all, it is very real

A few quick snaps from the last week when I had no intention of taking pics:
