Birthday Celebration in Lower East Side
Jaimin's birthday is actually today, but we celebrated it Saturday night in the Lower East Side. Festivities began at his apartment where we had a simple dinner of pizza and vino ...
Well the day began a lot earlier for me. I got up at 7am to make panna cotta (it usually turns out better if it sits longer) and blueberry ricotta pancakes. Sarah and I ate our bfast before shopping at Columbus Circle and the Upper West Side to pick out outfits for the evening. For lunch, I made roasted tomato hummus - but also baked vanilla cupcakes and made vanilla buttercream frosting (cf Magnolia's bakebook, borrowed from somewhere online). Took class at 3pm and then came home to make chocolate mousse (for myself, hehe). Finally rushed to shower, change, and head downtown.
The birthday celebration was fun! People showed up and ate, drank and were merry. So great to see everyone, especially Sarah who made the trip from Ithaca to be with us -

Katz's Deli, Lower East Side
Happy New Year's Eve! On Bud's first full day in New York, I took him to Katz's Deli - he needs the protein and I cant think of a better way to fill him up. The line at Katz's was ostensibly long but we waited, and ordered pastrami and reuben sandwiches. Right after, on a full stomach, I took him to Terra's afternoon yoga class. During standing bow, Terra said, "okay Michael, now I want you to copy exactly your sister" ... as a joke bc I managed to lock out both legs! Pics from lunch below -

Holiday Baking
I baked a few dozen mint chocolate chip cookies yesterday (target had a sale on morsels) and lemon bars! I decided to bake lemon bars bc we had an excess of 1) lemons 2) butter 3) sugar 4) amaretto and 5) almond roca. Both turned out well!
